Portugal News Online reported ground workers for Portugal's national airline TAP have warned they plan to strike around the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Members of four unions support the industrial action that was called to protest the decision to fire employees at Faro Airport. Airport handling company Groundforce announced in November that they would be suspending their operations at Faro Airport and dismissing 336 workers.
Two sets of strikes are planned. The first will reportedly begin at 9:00 pm, on 22 December and end at 3:00 am, on 24 December. The second strike will begin at 9:00 pm, on 28 December and last until 3:00 am, on 30 December.
Passengers planning to travel on the reported dates are advised to check with their travel office to verify if the planned strike action would affect their journey. |
