Workers at airport operator British Airport Authority (BAA) have voted in favor of a strike action that could close Britain's major airports this month.
The Unite union says that it will decide on Monday what form of action its members - including firefighters, security guards and engineers - will take.
BAA has said any walkouts will force it to close its airports, which include Heathrow, Stansted, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Southampton.
Prime Minister David Cameron has warned that a strike would achieve nothing "apart from damage."
Workers are unhappy with BAA's offer of a 1 percent pay raise this year after accepting a pay freeze last year. BAA says it made a reasonable offer, given a decline in passengers because of the recession and the volcanic ash cloud disruption.
